Mr Zimba explained that seed companies were expected to be present at the ceremony and that they would be expected to showcase their business activities.
Preparations for the ceremony which is expected to attract several other traditional chiefs and entertaining groups from Malawi and Zambia are said to have reached an advanced stage.
The Kulonga Traditional Ceremony which means ‘Storing the harvest’ is expected to address the need to encourage people to keep enough food for home consumption to ensure food security at household level.
Mr Zimba has since emphasized on the need for farmers to store enough food as opposed to selling all, given that this year’s yields were low due to poor rainfall.
