GOVERNMENT TO ENHANCE TIES WITH JAPAN

Government has underscored its commitment to strengthening its ties between Zambia and Japan in various spheres of development.

Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, Elvis Nkandu says the relationship between Zambia and Japan, is built on mutual respect and shared values, which have fostered cooperation in various sectors including health, agriculture and infrastructure.

Speaking during the 60th diplomatic relations between Zambia and Japan in Lusaka, Mr Nkandu said the celebration marks a significant milestone, as it reflects on the 60 years collaboration that has benefited Zambia through various support initiatives from Japan.

Mr Nkandu highlighted the importance of the partnership particularly in enhancing Zambia’s development agenda.

He expressed gratitude to Japan for its continued support, which has been pivotal in addressing challenges such as Cholera and other public health issues.

“As Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, I am particularly excited about the potential for collaboration between the two nations especially in areas of Youth, Sport and Arts,” he said.

And Japanese Ambassador to Zambia, Tekeuchi Kaziyuki, emphasized the need for continued collaboration between the two countries.

Mr Tekeuchi pledged Japan’s continued support to Zambia in agriculture, health and infrastructure.

He further called for partnership on global issues such as climate change and humanitarian efforts.

He expressed hope that the anniversary would serve as a catalyst for attracting more Japanese business investments in the country.
