KANYAMA MP WELCOMES LOCAL MANUFACTURE OF CHOLERA VACCINE

Kanyama Member of Parliament Monty Chinkuli has commended the move by the government to locally commence the production of the Cholera vaccine.

ZANIS reports that Mr Chinkuli said his constituency located in Lusaka province was the hardest hit with Cholera and other waterborne diseases last rainy season and having the vaccine manufactured locally will be a game changer.

Mr Chinkuli said he wants to see a situation where outbreaks of any sort are contained using local efforts.

“I want to see a situation where when we have any outbreak, we will be able to manage the situation within the country. Because if we depend on others, if they do not have sufficient, they will not be able to send to us. As a Parliamentarian, I will follow this move to the latter,” he said.

Mr Chinkuli was speaking to ZANIS at the National Assembly grounds, in Lusaka after witnessing the official opening of the fourth session of the 13th National Assembly, held under the theme: Enhancing Natural Resilience: Socio-economic gains in the Face of Adverse Effects of Climate Change.

The Lawmaker has also welcomed the government’s call to citizens to repay the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) loans, saying the government will only effectively offer loans to other beneficiaries if the current loan beneficiaries pay back their loans with its five percent interest.

“My appeal to the people is to actively pay back the loans because these are revolving funds. We want each and every one to benefit,” added Mr Chinkuli.
