Lusaka Province has officially joined the rest of the country in the Phase Two network infrastructure deployment, aimed at equipping District Administration Offices and Local Council Authorities with enhanced digital connectivity.
A collaborative networks team from the Electronic Government Division (SMART Zambia) Headquarters and the Lusaka Provincial Office is spearheading the implementation, working diligently to meet the project timeline.
This initiative is a key part of the national digitalization agenda, ensuring that government institutions are fully integrated into modern ICT infrastructure to improve service delivery.
Principal ICT Officer for Lusaka Province Mr. PETER MUTALE explained that four sites are undergoing infrastructure deployment and these include; Chilanga District Commissioner’s Office, Lusaka Local Authority (Civic Center), Rufunsa District Commissioner’s Office and Chongwe Town Council.
He confirmed that the deployment is progressing on schedule, with Chilanga DC’s office already brought online.
“The remaining sites are in the advanced stages of network installation, and efforts are being intensified to ensure that all four locations are successfully connected to the Government Wide Area Network (GWAN) by February 10th,” he said.
Mr. MUTALE mentioned that with Lusaka Province now fully integrated into the Phase Two deployment, the government reaffirms its commitment to leveraging technology for inclusive and effective governance, ensuring that no region is left behind in the digital revolution.
Once completed, this digital transformation will enable government offices to operate more efficiently, reduce bureaucratic delays, and improve public service delivery in line with the country’s long-term e-Government strategy.
