Chilanga District Commissioner (DC), David Sheleni has expressed concern over the increase in crime within the area.
Mr Sheleni expressed sadness at the manner in which people are being attacked and houses broken into by the criminals in the area.
He said this in an interview with ZANIS in Chilanga District.
The DC has disclosed that the administration and local authority with other stakeholders have been holding meetings to try and see a way forward in addressing the increase in crime rate in the district.
He says one of the ways discussed was to put a police post in Chilanga ward to increase police presence and that a lot of the crimes were occurring in the same ward.
“Some few weeks ago we had an incident in which individuals were attacked leaving them with serious injuries in the Longridge area of Chilanga ward which is very concerning,’’ he stated.
The DC has cautioned residents especially those that like to go out drinking at night to desist and opt to be drinking from their homes.
