Rufunsa, March, 12, 2025, ZANIS — Youths in Rufunsa District of Lusaka Province are happy to join the nation in celebrating youth day, saying the day is important in their lives as it promotes and highlights the achievement of the youth in the country.
Speaking to ZANIS in an interview, Paul Chilala, from Mwendachabe Village says he looks forward to this day because it means a lot to him as it is a day when youths are reminded of the role they play in national development.
He added that youth day is the day that needs to be appreciated by every youth in society.
“I feel so happy that there is a day in life when a youth is embraced and reminded of the critical role that we should play in national development,” He noted.
And Rose Twenda, a pupil at Mpanshya Secondary School, has urged fellow youths to take this day seriously and learn from the achievements of others.
She indicated that youth day is also commemorated to help young people realise one’s potential as a youth.
“Let us engage in meaningful activities in order to develop our nation, let us avoid indulging in illegal activities,” she advised.
Twenda further commended the government for the good policies and programmes put in place to empower the youth.
She cited the free education policy and the skills training under the increased constituency Development Fund (CDF) as great opportunities that need to be embraced by the youth.
Youths across the country are commemorating this year’s Youth Day under the theme “Voices Amplified, Innovations Ignited”.
