Keepers Zambia Foundation (KZF) a Non-Governmental Organisation has trained over 2000 women and men in Rufunsa and Chongwe districts in Lusaka Province in climate change as a way to reduce climate effects on the environment.
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS KZF Programme Officer, Lisa Nyirongo, also revealed that the project has come to an end after five years of implementation.
Ms Nyirongo said over 1000 households both in Chongwe and Rufunsa are now using traditional cookstoves as one of the alternative energy solutions.
She further said over 50 women and youths have also been trained in climate justice advocacy enabling them to facilitate meetings on climate smart solutions in communities.
Ms Nyirongo added that the women and youths have also managed to participate in district and national agriculture shows for the past two years adding that this year, they came out as winners for exhibiting climate smart local solutions such as the traditional cook stoves, local seeds and food at community level.
“As we close the project, we would love to thank all stakeholders who worked tirelessly and helped us implement the project successfully,” she said.
