BuyZed Campaign Chief Executive Officer Evans Ngoma has noted the need to empower the Zambia Police Service with helicopters in order to enhance their response to emergency situations
In a statement made available to ZANIS, Mr. Ngoma noted that empowering the Zambia Police Service with helicopters would significantly enhance their response to emergency situations, ensuring timely interventions and improved safety across the country.
Mr. Ngoma stated that this strategic investment would enable the police to quickly respond to emergencies, reducing response times and improving outcomes.
He said that the introduction of helicopters would provide the Zambia Police Service with a critical tool for responding to emergencies, including search and rescue operations, medical evacuations and rapid response to security threats.
“With helicopters, police officers would be able to quickly access remote or hard-to-reach areas, providing critical support to communities in need,” observed Mr. Ngoma.
He explained that in order to effectively manage and operate these helicopters, it would be beneficial to recruit and train police officers as pilots.
“This would involve identifying suitable candidates and providing them with comprehensive training in helicopter piloting, aerial surveillance, and emergency response procedures,” said Mr. Ngoma.
“By developing a cadre of police pilots, the Zambia Police Service would have greater control over their aviation assets, allowing for more efficient and effective responses to emergencies and other critical situations,” he added.
