GOVERNMENT COMMITTED TO STRENGTHEN INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS

Lusaka Province Minister Sheal Mulyata says the Government remains committed to the development of strategic partnerships with international stakeholders in order to accelerate Zambia’s economic integration.

Ms. Mulyata notes that Zambia and Egypt have a lasting cooperation adding that the two countries reinforce the commitment to fostering deeper economic ties by signing several Memoranda of Understanding aimed at facilitating collaboration in various sectors.

Speaking when the Egyptian Ambassador to Zambia, Mayada Essam called on her at her office in Lusaka, Ms. Mulyata added that there is need for the two countries to continue engaging each other on important issues that will spur development.

She reiterated her commitment to providing support to the Egyptian delegation in carrying out activities within the province.

“Whenever you want to visit the rural areas of Lusaka Province, we are there to take you round so that you have a view of how we are doing in agriculture in the Province,’’ she said.

She added that the country needs Egypt’s support to enhance irrigation programs and construction of the dams for sustainable agriculture.

” We can not just depend on the rain, another alternative is to go into irrigation build more dams which you in Egypt have done very well,’’ Ms. Mulyata said.

She added that her office is looking forward to sharing of critical insights as the two countries explore the areas of possible collaboration.

“Let’s continue engage with one another on pertinent issues as we continue to explore all the ways in which our countries can support relations given the ever evolving technological and social landscape of our two countries,’’ Ms. Mulyata added.

And the Egyptian Ambassador to Zambia said that during President Hakainde Hichilemas visit to that country, the Arab contractors sighed three MoUs with the ministry of infrastructure to establish 10 projects in Zambia.

“We are expecting a technical team from the Arab contractors to commence the first project here in Zambia,’’ she said.

Ms. Essam said that several MoUs were signed among the investments, infrastructure, tourism and drug deal with pharmaceuticals.

The signed MoUs encompass a range of transformative projects, including the construction of roads, bridges, and urban redevelopment initiatives aimed at improving connectivity and economic integration.
