MULYATA CELEBRATES ZAMBIA, BURUNDI RELATIONS

Lusaka Province Minister, Sheal Mulyta, has applauded the warm bilateral relations that exist between Zambia and Burundi.

Ms. Mulyata said since the establishment of the relations between Zambia and Burundi, the two countries have continued to work closely to promote peace, stability and sustainable development.

Speaking during a reception to commemorate Burundi’s 63rd independence anniversary, she added that trade relations between Zambia and Burundi have shown steady progress over the past years particularly in the agricultural sector.

“Zambia has continued to export various agricultural products to Burundi including maize, soyabeans and other food commodities”, Ms. Mulyata said.

She added that the bilateral exchange in agricultural goods has not only supported livelihoods but has also laid a foundation for deeper collaboration in agricultural businesses.

“The trade relations remain a key area of economic cooperation between our two countries,” Ms. Mulyata said.

And Burundian Ambassador to Zambia Evelyn Butoyi said her country will continue working closely with Zambia to further strengthen the existing ties between the two countries.

She noted that the areas of interest to enhance bilateral relations are mining, agriculture, military and hydro electricity generation.

 “We want our partnerships to continue growing stronger going forward especially following various agreements signed last year in the mentioned sectors during the official visit by our President His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye,” Ms. Butoyi said.

The ceremony was attended by various ambassadors and high commissioners accredited to Zambia headed by the Dean of diplomatic corps in Zambia who is also Palestinian Ambassador to Zambia Walid Hasan.
