Lusaka Province Minister Sheal Mulyata has reaffirmed government’s commitment towards providing a safe, conducive and quality learning environment for all learners across the country.
Ms Mulyata who was speaking during the commissioning of school infrastructure projects worth over 2.4 Million Kwacha in Rufunsa District using 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) explained that the infrastructure demonstrates the government’s commitment towards free and quality education.

ZANIS reports that Ms Mulyata who is also Rufunsa Member of Parliament said the projects include a 1 by 3 classroom block at Mukonka Primary School built at a cost of over 1.2 Million and renovations at Kalugula, Katope and Mambilima Primary Schools at a cost over K1.2 million.
The Minister stated that the classroom block will reduce the pupil-to-teacher ratio and increase classroom space for learners who once studied under trees in overcrowded rooms.

“It is particularly timely as Mukonka joins Kalungula, Katope, and Mambilima primary schools, which also were recently rehabilitated with roof sheets under the CDF disaster component initiative at a total cost of one k1, 217,287.41, we are seeing real, measurable impact of CDF”, she said.

Mr Mulyata also noted that in response to the increased number of learners due to free education, the government has recruited more teachers and supplied desks to ensure that no child sits on the floor.
Rufunsa Town Council Chairperson Kennedy Mailoni appreciated the government for improving the learning environment for learners and urged the community to safeguard the infrastructure.

‘Let’s safeguard this infrastructure against all manner of vandalism and ensure that we take advantage of the free education policy” said Mr Mailoni
The Minister also presented grants worth over 1. 5 Million Kwacha to some small businesses, youth, cooperatives, women’s groups, and vulnerable households using the 2025 CDF.
