LCC URGES THE PUBLIC TO SEEK INFORMATION ON CDF APPLICATION

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has urged the public, especially differently abled people not to shy away from getting more information from relevant stakeholders on how to apply for the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) empowerment.

This comes after complaints by some persons with disabilities that they have difficulties in accessing the funds in their various communities.

LCC Assistant Public Relations Officer, Bulumba Nyambe, says CDF has been decentralised and it is a community driven project which the government and the council has no say in terms of who is eligible to apply for the funds.

“We have been receiving some complaints that some people are not aware of what they are supposed to do for them to access the funds,” he states.

Speaking during a telephone interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr. Nyambe said the government recently released the 2024 enhanced CDF guidelines, with a key component of always having a representative from persons with disabilities community present in the CDF committee.

“This will make it easy for persons with disabilities to access the funds, because the committees will not be giving out loans or grants without a representative from the differently abled community,” highlighted Mr. Nyambe.

Mr. Nyambe added that the local authority is working closely with ward development committees and area councilors to spread information to members of the public, including people with special needs in order to ensure that they have the right information at hand.

“LCC recently advertised for the 2026 CDF which goes up to 6 to 7 months, to simply roll out information to the members of the public and ensure that as many people as possible are able to access the funds and this will be closing on the 30th of August 2025,” stressed Mr. Nyambe.
