CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICE (CRS) ORGANISATION DONATES 106 WASH KITS TO DISABLED PEOPLE

Acting Chilanga District Commissioner, Maureen Chilende, has commended the Catholic Relief Service (CRS) organisation for the continued support in various programmes that are aimed at mitigating the negative impact that was caused by the drought.

Ms. Chilende was speaking when the organisation handed over 106 Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene kits (WASH Kits) to people living with disabilities in Chilanga ward.

ZANIS reports that Ms. Chilende noted that the donated WASH kits will help promote good hygiene and help prevent water borne diseases.

She explained that the organisation handed over more than 400 WASH Kits to flood victims in Kalundu ward earlier this year.

The Acting District Commissioner added that the government will continue to partner with stakeholders to help uplift the living stands of people in the district.

WASH kits are crucial for preventing the spread of diseases and maintaining personal hygiene, especially in situations like emergencies, disasters or displacement.

They contain essential items such as soap, hand sanitizer and menstrual hygiene products aimed at promoting cleanliness and reducing the risk of infections.

The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is implementing two projects in Chilanga district namely, Disaster Risk Reduction and Anticipatory Action, which are focused on creating resilient communities in times of disasters.
