Lusaka Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Alex Mapushi has reiterated that the government remains steadfast in supporting all developmental programs in the province to enable the country reach its developmental goals.
Mr. Mapushi says the government is in a hurry to develop the country hence the need for all stakeholders to work together to enhance development.
He said this during a meeting with officials from the Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) to discuss various investment opportunities that the institution is planning to embark on.
ZANIS reports that Mr. Mapushi described the initiative by the institution to diversify its income base as innovative and encouraging.
He called for close collaboration among all multi-sectoral stakeholders embarking on developmental projects in the Lusaka province.

“The President has emphasised on the importance and need for development, and this development is anchored on the Eight National Development Plan and so such plans are quite integral to enhancing development “, he said.
Mr. Mapushi called on the institution to ensure it engages closely with the Provincial administration to ensure that all aspects of the development projects such as land titling , surveying, planning are properly looked into to avoid any future complications.
And ZACL Acting Managing Director Zephania indicated that the institution plans to diversify into various investment initiatives through the Public Private Partnership to increase its revenue base by generating non-aeronautical revenue.
Mr. Sholobela explained that aside from reducing the airport’s dependency on aeronautical revenue, the institution aims to turn the Airport into an aviation hub in the SADC region.
“We are grateful for your insight on so many factors concerning this project and we will endeavour to ensure we work closely with the provincial administration moving forward,” he said.
