Chitende ward Councilor Paul Kajiyo has commended the ongoing Mobile National Registration issuance exercise in Chiawa, describing it as progressive.
In an interview with ZANIS, Mr Kajiyo stated that the move is a step towards ensuring that residents of the designated area participate in the democratic process.
He noted the challenges residents faced in obtaining National Registration cards due to the long distance.
“We are happy that the mobile NRC exercise is taking place here, and our people are receiving national identity cards. This is progressive as this will enable them to participate in the democratic process,” said Mr Kajiyo.
And Zonal Village Headman Kalipano has urged his subjects to take advantage of the exercise by obtaining a National Identity Card.
Headman Kalipano stated that most of the people in that area obtain National Registration cards late due to mobility challenges.
He acknowledged the importance of Civic registration in promoting good governance and civic engagement.
“By registering with the NRC, citizens can obtain National Identity cards, which are essential for exercising their rights and responsibilities,” said headman Kalipano.
Meanwhile, the Mobile NRC exercise, which was launched on 10 April 2025, is still ongoing in Kafue District.
