Chilanga Town Council Secretary Francis Ndola has announced that the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, with support from cooperating partners, has developed a simplified citizens’ version of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
Mr Ndola said the simplified IDP will make it easier for ordinary citizens to understand the content and actively participate in development programmes.
He said that the document will soon be distributed to the public to enhance awareness and inclusiveness.
He was speaking during the third quarter District Development Coordinating Committee (DDCC) meeting in Chilanga.
Meanwhile, Mr Ndola disclosed that the local authority will host a stakeholder engagement meeting this Friday to discuss the 2026 budget and council operations and has extended an invitation to Chilanga residents to share their views with the council.
Mr Ndola further urged devolved departments to strengthen collaboration with Ward Development Committees (WDCs) in the district’s 12 wards, noting their critical role in identifying community needs and relaying information through sub-committees in sectors such as finance, health and agriculture.
“It is important for devolved departments to work in collaboration with WDCs so that information generated is consistent and supports development in our district,” he explained.
And DDCC Chairperson and Acting District Commissioner, Maureen Chilende, called on cluster chairpersons to hold pre-meetings with departments under their clusters before full DDCC meetings to improve coordination and address gaps in reports.
She also emphasized the need for heads of departments to educate subordinates on departmental operations to improve efficiency and service delivery.
